7 Quick Takes Friday....super short, super quick, not that interesting

1.

Jen, who hosts these 7QTF mentioned something in her quick takes about a blog's About Me page, which inspired me to update and slightly change mine.  It's not that great, but I do make mention of what I used to do/study B.K. (that's before kids).   So, if you are interested you can check it out....or not.

2.

I had forgotten how craaaazzzzy Rhode Island weather is.  And, I've been frantically trying to find all our warmer clothes, because when you come from Florida, 65 degrees is considered cold

3.

A lady who comes to our house to do something for my parents (does that sound mysterious or what ) taught Heidi and Greta how to make rosaries, so they have really been enjoying this craft and working quite hard on it and they even figured out how to finish it on their own.

4.

In the last 24 hours, I've had to pull the following things out of Elsa's mouth.

cat food
cat litter
pieces of carpet
dust
hair
paper
beads
whatever other nasty thing you can think of.

I'm thinking of hiring her out to help find lost items.  Whatever is tiny and disgusting and choke-able, she is sure to find (and eat).

I'm pretty sure my other kids never did this as babies.  Or maybe I just forgot...nah...they didn't do it.

She looks so innocent here...looks...they are deceiving.

5.

For the first time, in almost 5 years of homeschooling, we are sorta taking a summer break.  It' weird, but I really need the break and I have a lot of other work I want to accomplish this summer.  So we are going pretty light this summer.  We're see how long it lasts.

6.

I think we have determined that studying for the bar exam, is even harder than studying for law school.  Ben is putting in lots of long hours.  Please pray that he passes (he's taking it in VA).

7.

And, please pray that he finds a job by August.

And, please go see more quick takes

  1. Prayers! As much as I'm looking forward to Paul graduating next year I'm so not looking forward to the studying for the bar that's going to be happening!

  3. I agree, studying for the bar is worse than law school, especially after the 4th of July - it get's way worse after the 4th of July.

"For the first time, in almost 5 years of homeschooling, we are sorta taking a summer break." Do you guys usually homeschool year round? I've always been a big proponent of year-round schooling and plan to homeschool my kids over the summer even if they go to public or private school.

    1. Yes, we do usually school year-round. We would take short breaks (but never more than 2-3 weeks) for things like moving, family trips or a new baby, but we never took any long breaks or anything longer than 2-3 weeks. It genereally works better for us, if we do lighter during the year (3 school days a week) and keep going year-round, but I'm a bit burnt out now plus my mom has work for me to do here in RI during the summer, and I just can't do it and homeschool, so we're taking a break (although we will still do light school).

  4. Oh those hours spent studying for the bar... Maybe the worst time in my life - John Paul was a baby who liked to wake up before the sun, and I was pregnant with Cecilia and feeling awful, so we would spend a lot of time with me lying on the couch playing fetch with him while we let Andrew sleep. Then he would go to school, study until dinner, come home for dinner, go back to school and study until midnight or so. Rinse, repeat. AWFUL!!! Makes you appreciate the slightly better hours once he's actually a lawyer :)
